Schools & Teachers

The Classroom Agriculture Program (CAP) teaches students about the importance of agriculture in their every day lives. Students will learn about the food they eat and where it comes from. They will learn about opportunities in agriculture. They will also learn about the economic and environmental impact of agriculture in Alberta. CAP complements the grade four curriculum.

CAP is a free one hour, in class presentation. It is available to grade four classes in Alberta. It is delivered by volunteers with a background, education or experience in agriculture.

Following the presentation, all students will receive a free Grow with Agriculture booklet containing supplementary information in the form of pictures, puzzles and games that can be used as a class activity. A package of resource material for later use will be presented to each teacher.

Programs are offered based on volunteer availability. All classes registered before the deadline will receive activity booklets and a teacher’s resource kit.

Program registration occurs between October and December. The registration deadline is December 15, 2017. The Program is delivered between February and June each year.

CAP is endorsed by the Minister of Education and the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
